2020 Registration Date

1/1/2020

Time flies through the Holiday Season, but it’s time to start thinking about next year! Benicia Bocce League 2020 registration opens on Jan. 18th at 12pm. So, get your team together and ready, and have your Capo register that Saturday. (No more midnight registrations!) Registration will close on March 7th, at 12pm. But, don’t procrastinate!

Register online

For 2020, we’re planning to add a new division, Saturday mornings at 9am. We sadly had to turn away teams last year, and we don’t want to have to do that again if we have enough new sign ups.

As usual, when you register, you’ll pick the top three divisions you’d like to play in. Division placements will be made after registration closes, and will use the following priorities, with ties go to the first to register.

  1. Top priority goes to returning teams that are staying in their division.
  2. Second priority goes to returning teams that are moving to a different division.
  3. Third priority goes to new teams being formed by returning players.
  4. Last priority goes to completely new teams.

Prices this year remain the same, $350 per team, plus $10 per player. Team sizes are again from 6 to 12 players.

Here are some important dates for 2020:

  • Registration: Jan. 18, 12pm to Mar. 7, 12pm
  • Capo Meeting: Sat. Apr. 4, 10am
  • Opening Day: Sat. Apr. 25
  • Blackout dates
    • Memorial Day: May 22 - 25
    • Independence Day: July 1 - 7
  • Year End Celebration: Sat. Aug. 29
  • Playoffs: Sep. 9 - 19

We’ll send out another reminder for registration in a few weeks, with some more info for the season. But, put it down on your calendar, registration opens on Jan. 18th, and start getting organized. If you need extra players, or are an extra yourself, check out the BBL - Find a Team Facebook group.

We’re looking forward to another great season.

Congratulations to our 2019 Champs: The Infernos

Any of the many spectators on the courts last night could tell you it was an exciting match. After much back and forth, the score on the final game was 12-12 before The Infernos put their final to points on the board.

Second Place: Bocce Questo
Third Place: Fuhgettabocce

Thanks everyone for a great season.

Registration Results

3/5/2019

Registration is now closed, and we have placed teams into divisions.
Unfortunately, we could not fit all teams that applied into the league this year. We’re going to double check that all placed teams are able to accept their given time, which might allow a few more teams to be placed. Otherwise, we’ll send a full refund to teams we cannot accommodate. We’ll look into options for expanding capacity in the league next year, and give priority to those teams we had to turn away. Until then, we encourage you to check out our Find a Team Facebook group, as there may still be teams looking for players.

Capos, be sure you have the Capo Meeting on your calendar for Sat., March 30, at 10am in the Vet’s Hall. Drive around back to the lower parking lot. Both the capo and co-capo will need to be at the meeting. Also, make sure all your players have signed their waivers by that date. You can see progress on your application online, which you can find here.

We’re getting closer to the start of the season. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be finalizing the schedule, coordinating with the city to prepare the courts, and organizing the sheds. We’re also excited to announce that we will be holding a Bocce Clinic on Sat. April 13, for which we’ll send out more information shortly.

As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

2019 Registration

12/19/2018

We hope you’re having a great offseason, resting up those rolling arms. Meanwhile, we have been making preparations for registration for the 2019 season.

Registration will open on Saturday, January 19th, and close at the end of Sunday, March 3rd.

Capos, when registration opens, you can register your team online at:

beniciabocce.org/registration

As usual, you will be required to log into the website to register. So, now is a good time to make sure you remember (or reset) your password, or if you do not yet have an account, create one. Registration fees remain the same as last year at $350 per team plus $10 per player, to be paid online with registration. Team requirements also remain the same, at 6 to 12 players.

We are also continuing the collection of liability waiver digital signatures online. In order for this process to run smoothly, we strongly encourage you provide email addresses for each member of your team when you register. They will be sent emails individually to collect their digital signature. Otherwise, you will need to meet with your players at a computer to get their digital signatures. All waiver signatures must be received by the Capo Meeting.

The Capo Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 30th, at 10am.

Registration Priority

During registration, you will need to make your top three choices of which division your team would like to play in. Teams will be placed into divisions with the following priorities. Ties go the first to register.

  1. Returning teams, staying in the same division as last year
  2. Returning teams, switching divisions
  3. New teams formed from returning players
  4. Completely new teams

Returning teams staying in their division are guaranteed to stay in their division. Transfers are likely, depending on the popularity of the division you want to transfer to. If you want to transfer, it’s recommended you put your current division as a second or third pick, as a backup.

Also, after reviewing the (first annual) survey results, we’ve decided not to create separate competitive and casual divisions. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Finding a Team

If you are looking for a team to join, we’ve set up a Facebook group players connected to the teams that need them. Press the +Join Group button and make a post letting people know of your interest. More information can be found on this page.

Teams looking for players should join the group as well to snatch up the eager free agents.

Get excited! We’re looking forward to another great season. If you have any questions, you can reach us at info@beniciabocce.org.

The league sends out news and announcements via an email newsletter. Sign up now to stay in the loop.
